Manufacturing Challenges in POM Valve Body Machining

Both the PC base and POM valve body are critical components that must be assembled with electronic devices to ensure complete circulation. These devices are specifically designed for medical applications, prioritizing environmental protection, structural rigidity, and insulation. While injection molding is common for mass production, vacuum casting and CNC milling processes are utilized for rapid prototyping and low-volume production to optimize time and cost.

The primary technical challenge involves the complex runner system within the valve body, which includes straight and inclined holes. Due to the nature of POM material, it is prone to deformation. Ensuring that six non-linear holes across the upper and lower sections connect perfectly is a high-difficulty task. With upper hole sizes at 8mm and lower holes at 6mm, we utilize 5 different location rotations during machining to achieve precision.

How We Develop Complex POM Valve Components

Medical-grade parts require raw materials that strictly comply with ROHS and FDA certifications. Materials like PC and POM are often preferred over metals for electronic medical devices due to their lightweight properties and superior performance characteristics.

Utilization of 3D printing for initial testing and feature verification.

3D program simulation to mitigate risks during the CNC machining process.

Strict post-machining protocols including professional polishing and cleaning.

Rigid inspection standards to ensure absolute precision.

Precision CNC Machining Expertise

By leveraging digital technology and extensive experience, we successfully complete challenging projects such as the POM Valve Body. Beyond POM and PMMA, our production capabilities extend to a wide range of materials including PEEK, PC, Nylon, and various aluminum alloys, providing cost-effective manufacturing solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What materials are typically used for medical valve bodies?
We primarily use PMMA and POM for medical components due to their rigidity and insulation properties. We also work with PEEK, Nylon, and Aluminum 6082 depending on the application requirements.
What is the machining tolerance for these precision parts?
Our 5-axis CNC machining centers can maintain high-precision tolerances within +/-0.02mm, ensuring perfect fit and function for complex assemblies.
How do you manage the deformation of POM material during machining?
POM is prone to deformation, so we use specialized 5-axis machining techniques and 3D simulations to rotate the part through 5 different locations, ensuring all holes remain aligned and connected.
Do your materials comply with international medical standards?
Yes, all raw materials used in our medical part manufacturing comply with ROHS and FDA certification standards.
What is the typical lead time for a low-volume production order?
For low-volume orders such as 50 sets of complex valve bodies, our standard lead time is approximately 12 days, including machining and secondary finishing.
What finishing processes are available for plastic and metal parts?
We offer a variety of secondary processes including polishing for transparency, anodizing, powder coating, painting, Alodine, and PFTE coating.
