ODM Medical Device Parts CNC Machining Manufacturer Manufacturer, Service

Medical devices products meanings that most of our products has special standard and machining process, and quality control. In fact, the key points of medical devices parts machining are material properties, processing accuracy, process complexity and quality inspection, such as the titanium alloy, PEEK, 316L materials and more. Today, we will take this article for sharing for our customers in medical industry.

The new products is one actuating device includes gear, bearings, drive devices. It providing mechanical support and motion transmission functions. It is used in surgical instruments and equipment.

  • Secondary finishing including anodizing, power coating, chemical nickel-plating and more.

Key Project Challenges

The main challenge is the product feature complexity. We machining surfaces one by one ensuring all parts assemble for functional purposes. Materials like titanium alloy are exceptionally hard, making machining difficult. Tolerance requirements are strictly under 0.01mm.

Our engineering team utilizes extended cutting tools, 5-axis, and 3+2 axis CNC milling. Features include multi-angle holes (25 holes in 10 different angles), microchannels (100 μm width), and thin-walled structures (0.55 mm). Undercut holes and grooves require precise concentricity control.

Deformation Control: Thin-walled parts are prone to deformation from cutting or clamping forces. We utilize flexible vise clamping and staged processing (coarse/semi-finish/finish). In medical accessories, we have optimized processes to reduce deformation rates from 5% to below 0.3%.

Quality Traceability: We maintain full lifecycle data recording, including material batches, processing parameters, and test reports to meet medical standards such as ISO 13485.

Cost and Efficiency: High-precision processing is time-intensive. We improve efficiency through automation and double workstation systems to offer competitive pricing without compromising quality.

Manufacturing Process & Prototyping

We conduct careful design overviews and apply Positive Material Identification (PMI) to test alloy composition before fabrication.

5-Step CNC Prototyping:

  • CNC machine programming.
  • Engineering code review and optimization.
  • Workpiece mounting and setup adjustment.
  • Production monitoring and function verification.
  • Real-time cutting program adjustments.

Mirror EDM & Polishing: We use mirror EDM for minor undercut features where traditional milling cannot reach. The surface is then polished to meet aesthetic and assembly needs. Titanium and stainless steel parts undergo sonicleaning after machining.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials are used for medical actuating devices?
We primarily use high-grade materials such as Titanium alloy, PEEK, and 316L stainless steel to ensure biocompatibility and durability.
What is the standard tolerance for your medical CNC parts?
Our high-precision machining can achieve tolerances under 0.01mm, with specific grinding processes reaching as tight as 0.005mm.
How do you handle complex features like microchannels or thin walls?
We use 5-axis CNC linkage and mirror EDM for complex surfaces and micro-features (down to 100 μm), combined with staged processing to prevent deformation.
Do you offer surface finishing for medical parts?
Yes, we provide a full range of finishes including polishing, sonicleaning, anodizing, powder coating, and chemical nickel-plating.
Is there a minimum order quantity (MOQ) for prototypes?
No, we have no minimum volume requirements. We support projects ranging from a single prototype to low-volume production of over 100 pieces.
